FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Ghana safe for travelers?

Ghana is widely regarded as one of the safest and most stable countries in West Africa. Your expert local guides accompany you throughout the experience, and we provide comprehensive pre-departure information.

What is the best time of year to visit Ghana?

Ghana can be visited year-round. The dry seasons (November-March and July-August) offer less rainfall, while the green seasons (April-June and September-October) have lush landscapes with fewer tourists. December is the high season, and January is the high season in Ghana.

Do I need a visa?

US travelers and many other countries require a visa to enter Ghana. The visa requirements for Ghana are available here

What vaccinations are required?

A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for entry. We recommend consulting your local travel clinic for information, advice, and pricing.

What is the food like?

Ghanaian cuisine features flavorful stews, grilled meats and fish, and starchy sides like fufu and jollof rice. With advance notice, vegetarian and vegan options can be accommodated.

What should I pack?

We provide a comprehensive packing list after booking. Lightweight, breathable clothing is recommended.

How physically demanding is this trip?

This itinerary includes some walking tours and optional light hiking, but can be adjusted to accommodate various fitness levels. Please inform us of any mobility concerns.

Is Wi-Fi available?

Wi-Fi is available at most accommodations in urban areas but may be limited in rural locations.

Cell Phone Service

We recommend coming to Ghana with a phone with roaming data access. Getting around the city is easier if you can access a working telephone, especially when using ridesharing services like Uber.

Please contact your cell phone service provider before the trip to purchase an international data plan or to have your phone unlocked, and purchase an e-SIM card before arriving in Ghana.
